New weapons of the United States Marines in 2021

Here are some new items that will appear in the arsenals of US soldiers and Marines in the coming years.

New pistols for the marine corps

The marine corps began implementing the M18 service pistol in September. A compact version of the M17 pistol that the army adopted as part of the modular pistol system program in 2017, the M18 will replace all other pistols in the marine corps Arsenal, including the M9, M9A1, M45A1, and M007.

New futuristic battle glasses for soldiers

The army plans to implement an Integrated Visual Enhancement System (IVAS) starting in 2021. Futuristic glasses in the form of a display, based on Microsoft HoloLens technology, will provide soldiers with advanced capabilities: from rapid target detection to surveillance and reconnaissance.

New mufflers for the Marines

Marines who must operate in close combat will begin using silencers for small arms from Knight’s Armament Company along with M27 automatic rifles, M4 carbines and M4A1 melee weapons in 2021. As a marine corps command spokesman told time, their goal is “to improve the lethality of the marine corps ‘ close combat forces.”

New sniper rifles for soldiers and Marines

Both the army and marine corps have included the multi-purpose adaptive bolt-action rifle (MRAD) from Barrett Firearms in their Arsenal in 2021.

New grenade launchers for the marine corps

The marine corps has applied to supply the M320A1 grenade launcher, which will replace the m203a2 grenade launcher.

The M320A1 is a single-shot system that can be used as an Autonomous weapon or mounted on other weapons.

Lighter body armor for Marines

The marine corps has begun commissioning a new body armor that is 25 percent lighter than its counterparts, with the goal of fully transitioning to it by 2023. With the new bulletproof vest, it is easier for Marines to shoot and move around due to the reduced weight of equipment. The new design of the bulletproof vest is more convenient for shooting rifles.

Winter boots for the marine corps

The marine corps command announced in December that they would Commission new winter footwear designed for use in temperatures as low as -29 degrees Celsius.

Next-generation weapons for soldiers?

Not yet. Although the army has been testing General Dynamics-OTS, AAI Corporation Textron Systems and Sig Sauer prototypes for more than a year to replace the M4 carbine and M249 light machine gun, they will not be put into regular service until at least 2022.
